{personal: a trip of firsts}
As I handed in my deposit for our Haiti trip this year, I started thinking about Pastor Sony and his wife and their first trip outside of Haiti when they came and visited us in November. What a whirlwind it must have all been. Do they miss any of the comforts they experienced in the U.S. or are they totally happy to be back home in Haiti, back to their normal way of life.
They experienced so many things while they were here and I loved getting to experience it all with them like it was the first time for me again too. What if you've never experienced a house with AC or heat? An aquarium? An elevator? A city with a road system? Running hot water?
Some of these things I didn't even think to capture because it's something we're so used to having, it didn't even occur to me that they had never experienced it. Never again will I take our little comforts for granted.
